The secret to finding true happiness

Today, I had a chance to share alot of things to my students and this was the very first thing I shared with them this morning;

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be critical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy.

And I am in so much awe of God’s amazing power. He is moving in my life. He is certainly using my talents and skills to be able to advance me and other people to His Kingdom. I have never been this bold in sharing God’s words and telling people His Great Love but I can’t help it. My mouth, my mind. They are moving 1 million miles per hour.

I love this poem. I love its meaning and how easy it is to understand.I love its symbolisms. I had shared so many experiences to my dear students and I am so happy to see that after 8 long hours of lessons no one ever showed signs of sleepiness. Thank you Dear God for opening up their hearts. Thank you for your overwhelming and abounding love to these young adults. May you continue to shine in their lives.

And here are my students performing DESIDERATA in SPEECH CHOIR.

And of course their beautiful teacher. (I did not teach my students over confidence, Ok?)

Gratitude brings happiness.

It’s summer time. I don’t enjoy so much water and so much heat of the sun and so much traveling (5hours bus ride) and of course so much expenses. But these things change when I gave myself a chance to enjoy God’s beautiful and impeccable works.

Life is so simple. Just enjoy the simple things offered to you and that is pretty much it. If you want to be reminded of God’s promises, God’s works just simply experience sunrise, sunset, beach, look at the sun, feel the waves, relish your freedom of time, even watching the dark abyss can be a pleasure too.Life is an adventure, if you don’t want to try it, you will miss the fun.

I was exposed to the scorching,nagging heat of the sun for over 6 hours (including the life threatening boat ride) and boy, it was one of the best day of my life. The waves, just even the waves,playing with the waves, it was perfect. And I was at peace, not just because I saw the sunrise and the sunset but the fact that I was able to appreciate God for His works. Simple yet beautiful. Very Beautiful. Thank you Lord.

P.s: These photos were taken from my beautiful Land Philippines, at a small Island called Malapascua, its old name was Lugon/Logon. Home of the thresher sharks. (Sounded scary, but the Island possesses a mysterious beauty)

Why are you unhappy? and Why am I so happy?

These are simple joys of life. Life is so simple. Just smile. Just mingle. Just be simple.

Happiness is a choice you make.

beautifulWhat is happiness to you? What makes you happy? What gives you the sense of contentment? I also asked myself the same questions, What can make me truly and deeply happy? What is it that makes me happy? Money? Success? Accomplishment? I am still in my quest to finding what is happiness. I want to pursue my dreams and give my daughter the life that she deserves. This is certainly something that I want. Something that every single mothers want. I want to fulfill my dreams, to be successful in my chosen field and be able to provide for my daughter and live comfortably. Who wants to live in discomfort anyway? Then I learned that happiness for me is getting the things I want, happiness for me is being successful, happiness for me is fulfilling my dreams, happiness for me is living in comfort. Is this the kind of life that I want? Is this my purpose in life?

Writer Leo Rosten wrote, “The purpose of life is not to be happy, but to matter, to be productive, to be useful, to make a difference in this world.” I have also asked myself several times, especially when I visit a wake in the neighborhood, would my disappearance leave the world poorer or just less crowded? Now my view of happiness has changed. To be happy means to live a meaningful life.

Now another important question we need to answer, How to live a meaningful life?

This is my guide but you can also try this.

Yes, I am a baby born again Christian and still growing and still a work in progress. But I am gearing towards having a mature and personal relationship with God. Because having a personal relationship with Him can free us from the anxiety of meaningless existence. Today I am reminded “That in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to God’s purpose.”

We are all humans, imperfect, flawed, sinful, selfish…Yet having a relationship with God will draw us out of our preoccupation with our own interests and will enable us to minister to the needs of others.

Make it a practice. Get two sheets of paper. On one paper write your fears, doubts, worries, problems. On the other sheet write all the things you are grateful for. And then check the result. I’ve tried it and I was surprised with the result. Be faithful to those little things God gave you so you can be trusted with bigger things.

Live.Love.Laugh. If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands. Just simply clap your hands. Every single thing we have can be taken away from us. Money? can be robbed. Success? can disappear. Our friends? Our family? The people around us? They are not ours. One thing that we can keep is our attitude towards any given circumstance. So while reading this, YOU CLAP YOUR HANDS! BE HAPPY!

oh!These flowers are burst of sunshine! It makes me happy!

Bitterness, grudges can suffocate us. I am human. I still have forgiveness issues and I am working on it, working very hard.

Another reminder today, “For in the same way you judge others, Christ said, You will be judged.” Matthew 7:2.

And it’s definitely hard when the one thing that you can’t forgive is yourself.

I know loving involves risk. But what’s worse is not taking risk at all.

Maria and I started our Sunday School last Sunday and it was a success and it is a very fulfilling feeling to be able to help others.

It’s very simple. When life hands you a lemon, make a lemonade. I am sure that there are a whole lot of people out there who experienced misfortunes more than you do. So just be thankful, be happy, be optimistic. Transform obstacles into opportunities.

Life is beautiful. And how to make it more beautiful is to live a meaningful life.

Now tell me what is your criteria of happiness?

Positive vibes. An online job interview this 10pm. Wuhoooo. Excited. Elated. I have never applied for a job for the past 5 years. I have never updated my resume for 5 years. I like this feeling. I like how excited I am for this interview I don’t even care if I get the job or not. But I am happy. I thank God for this simple abundance. I am not overwhelmed,I am just simply living life, I am living one day at a time. And grateful and faithful for all those little things, Lord.

Life is bright as the morning

Each morning is an opportunity to thank God for another day of your life. It’s another 1440 minutes added to your life. It’s Saturday morning and I glanced at the wall infront of me where I put all my stickynotes as reminders.  Things such as;

It’s going to be a beautiful day

God will provide

Don’t Quit

I am awesome

Today I am 67 kilos

Each morning is an opportunity to wake up better and wiser -not merely older.

I always remind myself that everyday is a beautiful day. Everyday is a blessing and one should not waste it by remembering yesterday’s decisions and yesterday’s failures. Move on. Press on. Do something. Enjoy life. Enjoy the mundane and your day will become extraornidary. Enjoy the little things in life like the sound of the chicken outside, the hustle and bustle of the city, the noisy neighborhood because that only means YOU ARE ALIVE. God has given you a chance. A chance to become better. A chance to become blessings to others. A chance to love yourself and others. A chance to forgive yourself and others. A chance to laugh. A chance to live.
